Archsa (van Scyoc) Magee/McGee was named in her father's 1830 will and was bequeathed the sum of $2.00, presumably because she had received her share of her father's fortune when she married.[1] Since her father's will was dated 19 February 1830, it can be assumed that she was still living as of that date.
She appears to be the second wife of John Magee/McGee. In 1800, John Magee is enumerated on the same page of the census with Peter Barnhart in what appears to be Metal Township of Franklin County.[2] In that census, he is 26-44 [perhaps 43 or44] with perhaps a daughter age 16-25 and perhaps his wife age 45 or above. Archsa would have been only 14 at the time.
John McGee appears to be listed in the McGee DNA Surname Project (unsourced) with an apparent second wife, Achsch Vancine. Vancine most probably is a corruption of van Scyoc resulting perhaps from poor handwriting.
Fern, daughter of Eva Louise (Horn) Miller (1911-2010), is an mtDNA match to Kirby (Mullenberg) Drake. I am adding the mtDNA category to the female line associated with this connection. Mullenberg-4 16:44, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
